5 Things to Know Before Reopening

Like many other service businesses throughout the nation, Liz’s business ‘Brows by Liz’ remains closed until further notice. If this is still you, we are sending our full support during these times and encourage you to stay motivated and focused for when your time comes to reopen. Trust the process, and really take the time to finetune everything about your business and your craft.

If you are one of the more fortunate estheticians given the okay to reopen, here are 5 things to know before reopening:

  1. Plan protocols ahead.

Take the time to plan exactly what you will need in order to meet CDC state requirements and ensure that you purchase enough to last. You don’t want to run out of necessary supplies that may be in high demand so it’s important to start preparing now.

  • Masks
  • Gloves
  • Shields
  • Smocks
  • Sanitizers

Remember the importance of having a safety form for your clients to fill out before they get serviced. You want to be explicit about the questions you ask for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. Having a digital thermometer to take your customer’s temperatures before entering the servicing room is recommended for additional precautions.

  1. Make an impression.

The past couple of months have been unconventional times for all of us. Be sensitive to the situation your clients are in. This is a time to make an impression and really build a relationship with your customers. Assure them that you are going to take care of them and put their safety first.

  1. Book longer appointment times.

Booking longer appointment times can be helpful when you first reopen. You may need a bit more time to explain your new safety protocols as well as to get fully used to your new setup. Remember that you should only have the necessary materials needed to complete the service on hand.

  1. Advertise your safety measures.

Now more than ever, customers are going to be extra cautious of what they buy and where they go. You want your salon to create a space where you and your customers feel comfortable. Take photos and videos of your safe space and show it off on your social media! You can also give your customers peace of mind and book consultation and follow-up appointments completely virtually!

Want to have an even bigger impact? Explore paid advertising with Facebook and Google Ads for a fun and relatively low-cost way to get your name out there!

  1. Stay positive.

We’ve all been through some strange times over the last couple of months. We don’t know what others are going through or have experienced so the last thing your customers want is to have an unpleasant experience. You have the power to make a difference so have a positive attitude and show you’re thrilled to have them back!
